Jon Schotz, Co-Portfolio Manager - Investment Committee
Jon Schotz has 29 years of distressed investing and financial advisory experience, most notably in areas of distressed tax-exempt credits. Mr. Schotz is co-managing partner and serves as co-portfolio manager for Saybrook's Municipal Opportunity Funds. In 1990, Mr. Schotz co-founded Saybrook. Mr. Schotz served as the financial advisor to the Orange County Investment Pool Creditors' Committee and helped lead Saybrook's team that restructured and disposed of more than $1 billion in letter-of-credit portfolios. Prior to founding Saybrook, Mr. Schotz was responsible for opening the Los Angeles office of Ehrlich Bober & Co., Inc. Upon his departure, he was Executive Vice President, a member of the Management Committee and a member of Ehrlich Bober's Board of Directors. Mr. Schotz received his BA and MPPM degrees from Yale University.
Jeffrey Wilson, Co-Portfolio Manager - Investment Committee
Jeffrey Wilson has more than 22 years of investment experience in the municipal bond market with a particular focus in distressed, high-yield and special situation investing. Mr. Wilson is the co-portfolio manager for Saybrook's Municipal Opportunity Funds and has served on its investment committee since the Fund's inception in 2000. Mr. Wilson also has extensive restructuring advisory experience having helped lead Saybrook's advisory effort in the Pacific Gas and Electric bankruptcy and serving clients in assignments related to United Airlines, Kmart, Adelphia, Foster Wheeler, the City of Richmond and the City of Desert Hot Springs. Prior to joining Saybrook, he was a Vice President and Senior Research Analyst in Franklin Templeton's Municipal Bond Department where he led numerous complex financings focusing on the high-yield municipal market through structuring of new bond financings and restructuring of distressed credits. Mr. Wilson earned his BS in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific
Scott Bayliss, Managing Director - Investment Committee
Mr. Bayliss is actively involved in the overall management of Saybrook's Municipal Opportunity Funds, including identifying acquisition candidates, consummating the purchase of distressed tax-exempt bonds, performing real estate and bond due diligence, negotiating work-out arrangements and bond restructurings, implementing the disposition of investments, and general management of day-to-day fund operations. Mr. Bayliss has also been instrumental in the restructuring and disposition of more than $1 billion of letter-of-credit portfolios for both domestic and Japanese banks. In addition, Mr. Bayliss has provided financial advisory services to numerous corporate real estate owners and development clients. Prior to joining Saybrook, Mr. Bayliss was a Vice President with Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, a national specialty investment bank. Mr. Bayliss earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Finance from the University of Iowa, and he is a member of the California Society of Municipal Analysts and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.
Mieke Holkeboer, Vice President - Senior Research Analyst
Ms. Holkeboer performs various functions in connection with the acquisition of new assets for the Saybrook Municipal Opportunity Funds, monitors the Fund's investments after acquisition and assists in the overall operations of the Funds. Prior to joining Saybrook in April 2011, she was an Assistant Vice President in the Institutional Services Group at Nuveen Investments in Los Angeles. Prior to moving over to Nuveen's Institutional Services Group, she was a senior analyst with Nuveen's municipal bond research group in Chicago where she started in 2003, focusing on high yield sectors including charter school and land-secured bonds. Ms. Holkeboer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College, Masters of Divinity and Arts from Yale University and the University of Cape Town respectively, and a doctorate in theology from the University of Chicago.
Dave Rodriguez, CFA, Vice President - Senior Research Analyst
Mr. Rodriguez performs various functions in connection with the acquisition of new assets for the Saybrook Municipal Opportunity Funds, monitors the Fund's investments after acquisition and assists in the overall operations of the Funds. He joined Saybrook in 1998 and during his tenure, Mr. Rodriguez has underwritten and managed a wide range of assets, including bonds secured by multifamily apartments, hotels, charter schools, office buildings, toll roads assisted living facilities, sales tax increment, special assessments on residential developments, and single family mortgage pools. Mr. Rodriguez brings a strong background in municipal bond and real estate valuation to the Funds. Mr. Rodriguez earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Mr. Rodriguez is a CFA charterholder, a member of the California Society of Municipal Analysts, the National Federation of Municipal Analysts, and the CFA Institute.
Keith Rochelli, CFA, Senior Research Analyst
Mr. Rochelli analyzes potential new credit opportunities for Saybrook's Municipal Opportunity Funds and is Co-Portfolio Manager for Saybrook's Municipal Active Alpha fund. Prior to joining Saybrook in September 2005, he was an Assistant Vice President at Citigroup where he focused on marketing, structuring, and executing derivative transactions for western region clients. Mr. Rochelli worked intimately on financial products transactions for McCarran International Airport, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Scripps Health, and Catholic Healthcare West among others with over $6 billion notional executed. Prior to moving to Los Angeles with Citigroup, Mr. Rochelli was an analyst/associate in the New York-based quantitative group where he specialized in complex municipal transactions and project finance. Mr. Rochelli graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance.
