Jonathan Rosenthal, Co-Portfolio Manager
Mr. Rosenthal joined Saybrook shortly after its inception in 1990. He brings 28 years of experience in complex financings and restructurings as an advisor, operator and investor on the behalf of financial institutions, bondholders, private equity investors and on his own account in public and private enterprises. Mr. RosenthaI currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Accretive Solutions, a national finance and IT consultancy and outsourcing firm with with 12 U.S offices. He has also been appointed as Co-Chair of the Turn Around Management Association's 2012 Distressed Investing Conference, the largest industry event of its kind, bringing together investors, lenders, advisors and operating professionals to explore the opportunities in special situations investing. While head of Saybrook's Restructuring Advisory Group from 1991 to 2006, Mr. Rosenthal was involved in dozens of workout situations and has had leadership roles in some of the largest and most complex restructurings in history, including Pacific Gas and Electric, Kmart, and United Airlines. Prior to joining Saybrook in 1990, he founded and served as chairman and CEO of NetAir International Corporation, which became one of the nation's largest non-scheduled certificated carrier. Mr. Rosenthal received a BA from California State University, Northridge and a JD from Southwestern University.
Christopher Brothers, Co-Portfolio Manager
Mr. Brothers joined Saybrook in 2006 to co-manage the Saybrook Corporate Opportunity Fund strategy. He brings 23 years of experience as a distressed debt and private equity investor as well as a financial advisor specializing in mergers and acquisitions and financial restructurings. Throughout his career as a private equity investor, Mr. Brothers has invested over $1 billion in the distressed debt and/or equity in over 25 middle market companies. In addition, he has represented his firms on a dozen boards of directors and he currently serves as the Chairman of the board of Total Transportation Services, Inc. and as a director on the boards of Western Emulsions, Inc. and Axia, Inc. Prior to joining Saybrook, Mr. Brothers was a managing director at Oaktree Capital Management. During his decade long tenure as one of the original senior members of Oaktree's Principal Opportunities Funds, he was responsible for all aspects of private equity and distressed debt investing. Before joining Oaktree in 1996, Mr. Brothers advised on mergers & acquisitions and restructuring transactions at Salomon Brothers and Price Waterhouse. Mr. Brothers received an MBA and BA from Michigan State University after completing a five-year accelerated joint graduate/undergraduate program. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant.
John O'Hare, Managing Director
Mr. O'Hare joined Saybrook in 2003. He brings 15 years of experience in restructuring, private equity, M&A and corporate finance. Mr. O'Hare's transaction experience includes several of the largest and most complex restructurings in history, including United Airlines, Foster Wheeler and Hyundai Electronics. Prior to joining Saybrook, Mr. O'Hare advised on M&A, restructuring and corporate finance transactions at Salomon Smith Barney and Furman Selz. Previously, he spent two years as a private equity investor at the predecessor firm to Mason Wells, a middle-market leveraged buyout group. Mr. O'Hare received a BA from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.
David Cass, Associate
Mr. Cass joined Saybrook in 2008. Prior to joining Saybrook, Mr. Cass was an analyst in the Financial Restructuring Group of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin. His restructuring experience includes advising the creditors of Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Mr. Cass received a BS from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Said Al-Alaoui, Associate
Mr. Al-Alaoui joined Saybrook in 2011. Prior to joining Saybrook, Mr. Al-Alaoui was an analyst in the Capital Markets Group of Houlihan Lokey where he participated in public and private debt offerings including Exopack Holding Corporation's $585 mm dividend recapitalization. Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Al-Alaoui was an analyst in Libra Securities' Corporate Finance Group. Mr. Al-Alaoui received a BS from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business.
Andrew Morris, Associate
Mr. Morris joined Saybrook as an analyst in 2010 and was promoted to associate after two years with the Corporate Opportunity Fund. Previously, Mr. Morris interned with Saybrook while earning a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
